Travelling from New Zealand to see the world can often mean transiting through airports in other countries. And if you’re transiting through a destination, it can be tempting to spend a few days exploring it to break up your travel. So, what are you covered for (and not covered for) if you remain in the airport, or if you leave the airport on longer stopovers?
Our policies may cover you during a stopover or transit for up to 72 hours. When purchasing your policy, you do not have to declare the stopover country or region if you will be staying for less than 72 hours – even if you decide to leave the airport during that time.
For stopovers that are longer than 72 hours you will need to declare the country or region where you intend to stopover when you purchase your policy. If you do not declare the region or country when purchasing your policy, you may not be covered in that destination should something go wrong.
If you meet the qualifying conditions for cover during your stopover or transit, you will be covered under the full terms of your policy type as shown on the Certificate of Insurance (COI).
Some of the benefits on our policies include:
World Nomads offers two plans – Standard and Explorer. Each policy provides different levels of coverage depending on what you need:
Be sure to read the Policy Document and General Exclusions for other scenarios and expenses we don’t cover so there’ll be no surprises if you need to use your cover.
This is only a summary of coverage and does not include the full terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of the policy. You should read your Policy Document in full, so you understand what is and isn’t covered. That way there won’t be any surprises if you need to use it. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
